I am annoyed by the MPs who thought that the annecdotal evidence of their consituents was all the evidence they needed. I trust, then, that when an EDM is proposed to repatriate immigrants from Community X, that they will also sign that, based on the anecdotal evidence of their constituents who can personally assure them that the problems in this country are all down to "those immigrants".

What about an EDM proposing that the House sits only when a professional astrologer says that the stars are correctly aligned? After all, I'm sure that more consituents read their horoscopes than use alternative therapies.

Which will be, surely, all the evidence required by such MPs. I had thought that MPs were paid to take the time to consider the facts, not to mindlessly vote for whatever fad their consituents happen to like at the time. It appears that I was wrong
